Day 2. Cycling 40-75 km
After breakfast we depart by bus to a park just off the autopista near the town of Australia. There is a place for snacks in the park. From this park we ride toward Playa Larga and then beside the famous "Bay of Pigs" and finish at "Playa Giron" This hotel is all-inclusive (warning alcohol is free ;). Today's ride is very flat.
Day 3. Cycling 50-100 km
Today we ride to Cienfuegos and then onto Hotel Rancho Luna (All-Inclusive). It is 100 km to the city and we recommend a bus transfer (for slower riders) to a start point closer, this will give us time to visit this beautiful city before continuing and to the hotel by the sea which is a further 20 km.
Day 4. Cycling 50-92 km
This day it is 92 km from hotel to hotel and we finish at the Playa Ancon which is 15 km beyond Trinidad. We are again in an All-Inclusive hotel. For those who wish we will arrange a night out in Trinidad, it can be a lively town.
Day 5. Cycling 35 km (climbing 14 km) or day on a beach
Today is a challenge; ride out for 20 km on flat road. Then head into Escambray Mountain Range, 14 km climb. Assemble at the top and bus back to Trinidad for a city tour. Then back to the same hotel at Playa Ancon.
Day 6. Cycling 40-70 km
Today we ride the "Valley of the Sugar Mills" to Sancti Spiritus 70 km. This is a beautiful ride but has some hills and if the wind is not favourable we start at the Torre Iznaga. We will transfer from Sancti Spiritus to Hotel Hanabanilla. For those who wish we can ride the last 20 km of which the final 7 km is very hard.
Day 7. Walking/trekking in the mountains
Today we are off the bike and walking. After breakfast we walk up to a small house in the mountains to visit the local people. Upon our return there are choices, (1) stay around the pool (2) take a small ferry half way down the lake to a remote restaurant for lunch (this will be by far the most popular choice). Dinner will be back at the hotel.
Day 8. Cycling 40-65 km
Santa Clara is 65 km ride and in the city we will visit Che's monument and the site of the final battle of the revolution. Then we bus to the beach in Varadero and a nice 4* hotel. Again All-inclusive.
